Diffuse Dome Lights - DDL Series
Max. top opening 2.00" for large (up to 80 mm) telecentric lenses
|
|
|
|
Diffuse Dome Lights Features: Diffuse, high intensity, uniform and stable illumination in visible spectrum, UV and IR. Typical illuminance
(white) 12,000 Lux @ 0 mm, 4,000 Lux @ 50 mm. 80 mm field of view, +/- 10% uniformity. Embedded electronics (no controller required). Extremely
low heat dissipation. Light intensity adjustable from 0 to max. 24 volt models come with "piggy tail" cable with strain relief or with
sealed connector and detachable cordset. 12 volt models come with "banana plug" socket and detachable 110VAC to 12VDC converter.
Removable 1/4-20 mounting stud. Top opening 0.75" to 2.00" with application specific inserts to accomodate large telecentric lenses.
Fully sealed led lights, suitable for clean room, semiconductor, food processing, pharmaceutical, bioscience, medical, forensic and metalography
applications. Long lasting replacement for fiber optic and fluorescent dome lights.

Diffuse Dome Light Illumination Structure: Diffuse dome led light is an integrating light source. The inner surface of the dome has
so much microscopic roughness that led light rays are reflected (scattered) in many different directions. As a result, the light
surrounds the object. Shadows cast by parts of 3-dimensional objects are either reduced or eliminated. Specular reflections are greatly
reduced and contrast is created between specular and diffuse surfaces.
Diffuse Dome Lights Applications: Diffuse dome lights provide bright uniform light for inspecting flat and 3-dimensional objects with mixed diffuse
and glossy surfaces. Examples: compact disk inspection, ball bearing inspection, inspection of components in plastic bags, bottle caps inspection,
laser etched or engraved symbols inspection, printed circuit board inspection, surface defects detection, optical character recognition (OCR),
print quality verification (PQV), ball grid arrays (BGR) inspection, detection of packaging tears, etc.

Diffuse Dome Lights for large telecentric lenses:
The drawing on the left, shows a popular telecentric lens with 80 mm effective aperture and 46 mm field of view at 190 mm working distance.
The top opening of the dome with the insert specifically designed for this lens, allows the lens to see the specified field of view, but
prevents the zeroeth order (direct) light from entering the lens. The light intensity is lower - some low angle light rays (shown in magenta),
which with 0.75" top opening would be reflected toward the target, now leave the dome directly through the top opening. The loss of light
is not critical (most of the led light output is emitted as a narrow angle cone) and does not overweight the obvious benefit of being able
to use a compact, relatively inexpensive diffuse dome light with large diameter telecentric lenses.
